Division 1 baseball next for local duo

Two local players, Aidan Paul and Gavyn Boyle, who helped the SUNY Niagara baseball team to a school record 52 wins and a fourth place finish at the national tournament, will be continuing their diamond careers at the Division 1 level.

Paul, a Medina High graduate, will be pitching for High Point University in North Carolina.

Boyle, who is from Roy-Hart will be playing in the outfield for the University of Southern Indiana.

Paul posted a 7-1 record on the mound with 62 strikeouts and a 1.21 earned run average for the Thunderwolves this spring. He earned first team All Region 3 honors and was a second team All Western New York Athletic Conference honoree.

Boyle hit .379 with 18 doubles, 7 triples, 11 home runs and 56 RBIS this spring. He earned first team All WNYAC and All Region 3 honors and also received the SUNY Niagara’s President’s Award for academics.
