Rams top Blue Devils in Class B sectionals
In a sea-saw battle, No. 9 seed Roy-Hart outlasted No. 8 East Aurora 12-10 in a Section VI Class B quarterfinal round baseball game at East Aurora this afternoon.
Trailing 9-6, Roy-Hart rallied back into the lead for good at 10-9 by scoring four times in the sixth inning on a two-run home run by Evan Poeller and a two-run triple by Gavin Heideman.
The Rams then scored what proved to be the decisive two runs in the seventh on an RBI single by Sean Mettler and an RBI double by Heideman.
Earlier, Roy-Hart jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after scoring three times in the top of the third on two errors and a steal of home.
However, the Blue Devils rallied into an 8-4 lead by scoring twice in the third and then six times in the fourth highlighted by a two-run double by John Kammer and a two-run single by Andrew Bodecker.
Roy-Hart closed the gap to 8-6 with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth on an error and an RBI single by Jared Hy before moving back on top to stay with the key four run sixth inning rally.
Heideman, Poeller and Mettler each finished with a pair of hits.
The win advances Roy-Hart to a quarterfinal meeting with Niagara-Orleans League rival top seeded Medina at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Vets Park.

Dunkirk 13, Albion 0
No 3 seed Dunkirk blanked visiting No. 6 Albion 13-0 in a Class A2 quarterfinal.
Dunkirk used a big 8 run third inning to key the win as Albion was limited to just one hit, a single by Nate Gibson.
