Kendall ‘9’ rolls to sectional opening victory to improve season record to 20-1

Earning victory No. 20 on the season, top seeded Kendall blanked No. 8 Perry 11-0 in the quarterfinals of the Section V Class C2 baseball tournament this morning at Barker.
Gavin Braun earned the win on the mound for Kendall as he allowed only 2 hits and struck out 3 over five innings of work.

Nic Cole came on to pitch the sixth inning allowing no hits and striking out 2. CJ D’Agostino then came on to complete the shutout as he allowed no hits and struck out 2 in the seventh inning.
At the plate, the Eagles pounded out a total of 18 hits including 5 by Vinnie D’Agostino, 3 by Jonny Conte and 2 each by Colby Hughes, Sammy Conte, Jonas Rhodes and Mikey Colucci.
Setting the tone at the outset Kendall scored three quick runs in the first inning on RBI singles by Vinnie D’Agostino, Hughes and Sammy Conte.
The Eagles upped the advantage to 8-0 by erupting for five runs in the fourth inning on RBI singles by Hughes, Rhodes and Andrew Cole, and two errors.
A double by Vinnie D’Agostino ignited the uprising which also included singles by Sammy Conte and Mikey Colucci.
Kendall added an unearned run in the fifth on an error and then capped off the win with a pair of runs in the sixth on RBI singles by Jonny Conte and Vinnie D’Agostino. A double by Rhodes set up that opportunity.
Improving to 20-1, Kendall advances to Wednesday’s semifinal against the winner of today’s No. 5 Oakfield-Alabama vs. No. 12 Campbell-Savona quarterfinal.

Keshequa 12, Lyndonville 0
Jumping out to a 7-0 lead in the first two innings, No. 2 seed Keshequa went on to down No. 15 Lyndonville 12-0 in a Section V Class D quarterfinal round baseball game.
