Medina ‘9’ romps to win over Kenmore West

Improving to 18-1, Medina romped to a 16-3 win over host Kenmore West in a non league baseball game this afternoon.

The Mustangs pounded out a total of 14 hits including 4 by Aidan Papaj, 3 by Preston Woodworth including a grand slam home run and a total of 7 RBIs, and 2 each by Brody Fry and Carter Woodworth.

Lukas Grimes pitched the first 4 innings for Medina giving up 4 hits and striking out 3. Vinny Gray hurled the final 3 frames allowing 2 hits and fanning 3.

Breaking away from a scoreless deadlock, Medina moved on top to stay by scoring twice in the third inning on RBI doubles by Fry and Preston Woodworth.

Keeping the momentum, the Mustangs tacked on 4 runs in the fourth as Preston Woodworth had a two-run single and Tyler Kroening an RBI single.

The Mustangs then broke the contest wide open by erupting for 6 runs in the fifth frame highlighted by a grand slam home run by Preston Woodworth. Papaj also had an RBI single in the inning which also included singles by Carter Woodworth and Ryan Pegelow.

Papaj added an RBI double and Fry a run producing single in the sixth inning to round out the Mustangs scoring parade.

Medina will close out the regular season with a non league game at Lockport at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Newfane 3, Lyndonville 2
Newfane rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to nip visiting Lyndonville in a non league game.

Tristen Smith had 2 hits and 2 RBIs for Newfane as Cam Perry and Aiden Perry combined for 12 strikeouts on the mound.

Colton Smith had 3 hits for Lyndonville which scored once in the fourth inning on an error and once in the sixth on a single by Thomas Blake.
