Albion pushed across a run on an error in the bottom of the ninth inning to nip visiting Wilson 4-3 this afternoon as the Purple Eagles remain undefeated at 5-0 in Niagara-Orleans League baseball competition.
Albion jumped out to an early 3-1 lead by scoring three times in the second inning on a two-run single by Nate Gibson and an RBI single by Elliott Trapiss.
However, Wilson rallied to knot the score at 3-3 by tallying once in the fifth on a bases loaded walk and once in the seventh on a single by Braden Seeley.
Gibson pitched the first six innings allowing 3 hits and striking out 10. Seth Krenning hurled the final 3 frames giving up 2 hits and fanning 3.
The loss drops Wilson to 1-7.
Roy-Hart 8, Akron 7
Roy-Hart (2-4) edged Akron (5-3) 8-7 in a rained shortened game played at Barker.
Three runs in the top of the sixth, which gave Roy-Hart an 8-4 lead, provided the margin of victory for the Rams. An RBI double by Gavin Heideman and an RBI sacrifice fly by RJ Townsend highlighted that rally.
The Rams also scored three times in the first inning on a double by Townsend and a two-run double by Jared Hy.
