Albion ‘9’ tops Newfane in N-O opener

Albion rolled to a 13-1 win over host Newfane this afternoon in the Purple Eagles Niagara-Orleans League baseball season opener.
Kaiden Froman provided the early offensive spark for Albion as he banged out a two-run homer in the second inning and a two-run double in the third.
The Purple Eagles later put a lock on the win by scoring five times in the fifth frame highlighted by a two-run triple by winning pitcher Nate Gibson and a two-run single by Elliott Trapiss.
Gibson finished with 3 hits and Trapiss 2.
On the mound, Gibson allowed only 2 hits and struck out 13 in five innings of work.
The loss drops the Panthers to 0-3 in N-O action.
Nate Gibson picked up the win on the mound for Albion hurling a two hitter with 13 strikeouts.
