Purple Eagles top Rams for 6th straight win

Moving on top to stay with a big second quarter, Albion went on to down visiting Roy-Hart 61-38 this evening as the Purple Eagles earned their sixth straight Niagara-Orleans League boys basketball victory.

Trailing by four, 11-7, at the end of the first period, Albion put together a 16-6 second quarter scoring surge to rally into a 23-17 half-time advantage.
A layup off a steal by Wesley Olles followed by a three by Kwame Riley ignited that uprising which also included a three-point play and a jumper by Seth Krenning, a three by Isaiah Riley and a basket by Kyle Radder.
Keeping the momentum, the Purple Eagles then outscored the Rams 24-10 in the third period to open up a commanding 20 point, 47-27, advantage heading into the final quarter.
Olles had 11 points, including 7 of 8 from the free throw line, and Radder seven, including a three, to spearhead that uprising.
Olles finished with 16 and Radder 13 as Krenning added 9, Tyler Cody 7, Isaiah Riley 6, Kwame Riley 4 and Nate Gibson and Josh Schoeberlein 3 each.
Dan Aquilina scored 15 and Braden Ricker 14 to pace Roy-Hart as Erique Powell added 7 and Jackson West 2. Ricker scored 8 in the opening quarter to help the Rams grab a 11-7 lead.
The loss drops Roy-Hart to 2-8.
Albion next visits Spencerport in a non league game at 2 p.m. Saturday.
