Hawks open G-R campaign with victory
Holley opened the Genesee Region League boys basketball season on a high note by downing visiting Alexander 59-56 this evening.
Vinny Golisano scored 20, Avante Walker 14, Destin Kuyal 9 and Chris Mosier 8 to lead Holley’s balanced attack.
Golisano made four clutch free throws in the final 16 seconds to help the Hawks lock up the win. Golisano and Silpoch both hit threes and Walker had a pair of baskets in the decisive final stanza.
Holley held leads of 15-13 at the end of the first quarter, 27-23 at the half and 42-38 after three quarters.
Walker scored 6 in the first while Kuyal and Silpoch both hit threes in the second and Golisano had a three and a three-point play in the third.
Holley will next visit rival Kendall on Friday at 7 p.m.
In another G-R opener, Wheatland-Chili downed visiting Lyndonville 77-22.
Juan Alberdi scored 9 and Colton Smith 6 to lead Lyndonville.
