Roy-Hart posts key win over Barker; Albion and Medina notch victories

Completing a home-and-home sweep, Roy-Hart bested host Barker 6-2 this afternoon in a key Niagara-Orleans League baseball game.

Roy-Hart, which also downed Barker 13-2 on Monday at Gasport, improves to 6-1 and remains tied for first place with Albion, a 6-0 victor at Wilson.

Breaking away from a scoreless deadlock, Roy-Hart erupted for five runs in the top of the fifth inning to key the win. Ben Maynard, Andy Xapsos and Eric Fitch all banged out RBI singles and Justin Heschke a run producing double to highlight the decisive uprising.

Barker answered with a pair of runs in the home half of the frame on a two-run single by Cameron Fox but the Raiders could not cross home plate again.

Andy Xapsos had three hits for Roy-Hart, including an RBI double in the sixth, as Maynard, Fitch and Joe Nolan each chipped in with a pair of hits.

Cameron Meadows hurled the first five innings for the Rams allowing 3 hits and striking out 5. Heschke came on to pitch the final two frames and fanned 1.

The loss drops Barker to 5-3 and two games off the pace.

Albion 6, Wlson 0
Brady Meakin hurled a 4 hit shut ut with 11 strikeouts to lead Albion past Wilson which slips to 3-3.

Meakin also had a big day at the plate banging out 3 hits as Jason Downs and Randy Eblacker both added a pair of hits.

Albion scored a quick runs in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Eblacker which followed singles by Downs and Meakin.

The Purple Eagles then tallied three times in the third highlights by a two-run single by Eblcker. Singles by Meakin and Evan Pappalardo set up the threat.

Medina 16, Newfane 1
Medina pounded out a total of 16 base hits including three each by Justin Morgan, Alex Allis and Jared Zinkievich along with two apiece by Brad McPherson, Gage Grabowski and Brett Riemer in the 16-1 victory at Newfane.

Lucas Porter went the distance on the mound for the Mustangs scattering 8 hits and striking out 3.

Medina scored 4 quick runs in the first inning as Riemer, Zinkievich and Allis had consecutive RBI singles.

The Mustangs also tallied four times in the third frame highlighted by a two-run double by McPherson and an RBI single by Allis.

Medina broke the game wide open by erupting for five runs in the sixth inning as Morgan had a two-run single and Grabowski and Allis run producing singles.

Morgan and Zinkieivich then tacked on RBI singles in the seventh to key a three-run uprising.

Medina is now 3-5 and Newfane 0-7.

CSAT 10, Akron 4
Leo Perdomo hurled a 1 hitter and also banged out 4 hits himself to lead CSAT (4-3) to a 10-4 win over Akron (2-6).
