Lady Tigers edge past Irish
One big scoring inning keyed Medina to a 5-0 victory over Barker this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League softball game at Vets Park.
Medina scored all five of its runs during a big third inning on an RBI single by Brandi Guild, two wild pitches and a pair of errors. A walk, an error and a bunt single by Emily Kams loaded the bases to set up the threat.
Kams picked up the win in the circle allowing 4 hits and striking out 9.
Barker pitcher Erika Moeller allowed only 2 hits and struck out 11.
Medina is 1-0 and Barker 1-1 in N-O action.
In another N-O game, Akron (2-0) defeated defending champion Roy-Hart (2-1) 23-2.
Lyndonville 9, Notre Dame 7
Breaking away from a 7-7 deadlock, Lyndonville scored twice in the top of the seventh inning on a wild pitch and a triple by Lisa Boyce to upend Notre Dame 9-7 in a Genesee Region League game.
Singles by Miranda Lembcke and Anna Lewis set up the decisive tallies. Lewis also had a triple on the day.
Makenzie Muck picked up the win in the circle for the Lady Tigers registering 4 strikeouts.
In another G-R contest, Elba trimmed Kendall 5-3.
Akron 23, Roy-Hart 2
Mattie Klein scattered 8 hits and struck out 5 in the circle for Akron while Abby Stone led the Lady Tigers attack with 2 hits and 4 RBIs on doubles in the second and fourth innings.
Akron put a lock on the win by scoring 7 runs in the sixth inning as Sarah Schultz had a two-run single and Shaylie Carberry, Brittany Hudson and Kayla Thomas all added RBI singles.
