Pulling away in the third inning, the Medina U14 Fillies romped to a 14-1 victory over the host Mel Ott Red softball team Tuesday.

After scoring solo runs in the first and second innings, the Fillies erupted for 6 runs in the third on singles by Libby Cook, Morgan Allis, Cora Payne and a double by Ryenn Oliver.

Keeping the momentum, the Fillies added 3 runs in the fourth on a two-run homer by Ashlee Howell and a solo homer by Oliver, and 3 more in the fifth on back-to-back doubles by Lacey Kenward and Brandi Guild and a single by Allis.

Guild, Howell, Allis and Oliver each had 2 hits on the evening as Payne, Cook and Kenward each had 1.

In the circle, Payne pitched 5 innings giving up no runs and 2 hits with 7 strikeouts.

Defensively, Abi Neuman turned a double play at second base to end a Mel Ott threat in the fourth and Guild had a diving play for an out in the fifth.

The Fillies are now 2-1.
