Albion sweeps Newfane in youth football

Albion scored three wins over Newfane in Niagara-Orleans Football Association (NOFA) action on Saturday.

Beginner Division
Jumping out to a 13-0 first half lead, Albion held on to beat Newfane 13-8. With the win, the Beginner Eagles clinch a spot in the NOFA Championship game vs Batavia on October 26th.

Kenny Almonte had 112 yards and a touchdown. Hudson Palmer picked up 106 yards and a TD. Gunner Jackson 28 yards, Patrick Westlund 17 yards and Elijah Cornick 7 yards.

Almonte had 14 tackles to led the defense. Westlund 7, Palmer 6, Xavier Weis 5 and Jai’heem Drisdom 3. Cornick, Arlene Beecher, Neil Farley, Oliver Dillard, Drake Neri and Royce Rotthoff had 2 each.

Mini Division

Seven different Mini Eagles found the endzone in the win. Cayden Farrell passed for 78 yards and a TD to Elian Almonte. Moses Taylor ran for 82 yards and a score, Jayce Torres 60 yards and a TD, Farrell 58 yards and 2 TDs, Kyle Schomske 55 and a TD, Harrison Froman 21 yards and a score and Conor Murphy 12 yards and a score.

Kairo Bennett had 9 tackles for the defense. Isaac Button, Froman and Almonte were in on 6 stops. Farrell and Schomske had 3 each. Zeus Vallejo and Christopher Swan 2, Heyden Warren, Taylor, Jai’Kaih Drisdom and Eli States were all in on tackles. Dominic Westlund had an interception.

Albion clinched the #1 seed for the Mini playoffs on October 19th.

JV Division

Heyden Almonte had a big day on the ground, picking up 279 yards and 4 touchdowns. Carter Farrell ran 53 yards for a TD and Colton Moreland 48 yards for a score. Ethan Olles caught a 59 yard TD pass from Jace DiMatteo. Giovanni LaMartina had 16 yards receiving.

Almonte, Farrell,  LaMartina and Matthew Colmerero each had sacks on the day. Carter and Landon Farrell each had 6 tackles. Cooper Traxler, Gavin O’Brocta and Roman Allport had 4 tackles each. Connor Hinckley, Kolton Berry, Olles, and Colmerero had 3 tackles each. Brady Graham, Moreland, Liam Pearl, Hudson Armer, Lincoln Voorhees and Liam Saporito 2 each.

Albion clinched the #1 seed for the JV playoffs on October 19th.
