Lakemen upend Rams in B2 semi
Unable to capitalize on a sting of late innings scoring opportunities, No. 2 seed Roy-Hart was upended 6-2 by No. 6 Wilson this afternoon in the Section VI Class B2 semifinals at Gasport.
Trailing 4-2, Roy-Hart was unable to score over the final three innings as the Rams stranded a total of 8 base runners during that stretch including leaving 2 aboard in the fifth and the bases loaded in both the sixth and seventh frames.
Wilson pitcher John Bender registered clutch inning ending strikeouts to get out of both the sixth and seventh inning jams.
Wilson scored 2 quick runs in the first inning as Jonah Miller had a double.
The Lakemen made it 4-1 with 2 more in the top of the third as Jackson Rotella had a double.
Roy-Hart closed the gap to 4-2 in the top of the third on an RBI sacrifice by Al Xapsos but the Rams left a pair of runners stranded and could not cross home plate again.
Wilson added 2 big insurance runs in the fifth frame on a steal of home by Jacob Mitchell and a sacrifice fly by Connor Seeley.
