N-O has key title race matchups this week
The top two contenders in the Niagara-Orleans League’s boys soccer, girls soccer, field hockey and volleyball title races will all meet in key matchups this coming week.
In boys soccer, co-leaders Medina and defending champion Wilson will meet at Vets Park at 4:45 p.m. Friday.
The Mustangs and Lakemen, who played to a 1-1 tie at Wilson earlier in the season, bring identical 5-0-1 N-O records into the contest.
Cole Callard, who has 24 goals and 11 assists, spearheads the Medina attack as Vinnie Gray has 7 goals and 10 assists and Tyler Kroening 7 goals and 3 assists.
The Lakemen are led offensively by Keegan Hermann with 19 goals and 15 assists and Aidan Neumann with 13 goals and 10 assists.
In girls soccer, front-running Akron will host runner-up Roy-Hart at 4:45 p.m. Friday.
Akron is 4-0-2 and Roy-Hart 4-1-1 in N-O action.
The Lady Tigers won the first meeting between the teams 2-1.
Abby Gerstung has 5 goals and 2 assists and Gracie Leiker 2 goals and 8 assists for Akron which has six players with at least 2 goals.
Kaitlin Mettler has 21 goals and 4 assists to lead Roy-Hart as Maria Trombley has 8 goals nad 5 assists.
In field hockey, league leading defending champion Akron will visit runner-up Barker at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
Akron, which won the first meeting this season 3-0, is 7-0 while Barker is 5-1.
Julia Klodzinski has 10 goals and 1 assist, Mackenzie Tomporowski 8 goals an 2 assists and Morgan Tomporowski 7 goals and 4 assists to lead Akron.
Madelina Pavlock has 10 goals and 4 assists for Barker as Ella Taylor and Madilyn Detschner both have 3 goals.
On the volleyball court, front-running Roy-Hart will visit runner-up Wilson at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Roy-Hart, which won the first meeting 3 sets to 2, is 5-0 and Wilson 4-1.
