A quick two touchdown first quarter scoring burst sparked Newfane to a 23-6 in over Medina in a C North Division game at Vets Park this evening.

The Panthers jumped out to a early 16-0 lead as Mac Capen ran 10 yards for one touchdown and Ayden Buttery returned an interception 35 yards for another. Capen and Camio Flowers both added two-point conversions.

The Panthers other score came on a 1 yard TD run by Khalil Golden on the first play of the final period.

Medina averted the shutout as quarterback Preston Woodworth connected with Jerrell Nealy on a 23 yard touchdown pass with 2:58 remaining in the fourth quarter.

The C North loss was Medina’s first in five seasons of competition in the division. The Mustangs were 20-0 in the division going into tonight’s contest.

The Panthers are now 1-0 in the division and 2-0 overall while the Mustangs slip to 1-1 in C North competition.
