Purple Eagles claim Albion tourney title

All of the scoring came in the second half as Albion shutout Alexander 3-0 this evening in the championship game of the Purple Eagles girl soccer tournament.

A goal by Rori Higgins two minutes into the second half off an assist from Mia Standish snapped a scoreless deadlock and proved to be the game winner for Albion.

Cami London tackled on a pair of big insurance goals, the first off an assist from Julia Button and the second on a breakaway, to help lock up the win.

Aaliyah Jones earned the shutout in goal for the Purple Eagles.

Pembroke blanked Medina 5-0 in the consolation game.

Albion and Medina will both open Niagara-Orleans League competition on Tuesday as the Purple Eagles visit Akron and the Mustangs travel to Newfane.

W-C Tournament
Holley lost on penalty kicks to host Wheatland-Chili in the championship game of the W-C girls soccer tournament.

The game was scoreless at the end of regulation time and after the overtime periods.
