Albion, Medina, Akron netters go to 3-0
Albion, Medina and Akron all scored victories this afternoon to improve to 3-0 in Niagara-Orleans League tennis competition.
Defending champion Albion blanked Barker 5 1/2-0, Medina downed Newfane 4 1/2-1 and Akron shutout Roy-Hart 5 1/2-0.
Leading the way for Albion were straight set wins by the singles trio of Daniel Beam (6-1, 6-0 over Nick Fazzolari), Jacob Metzler (6-1, 6-0 over Andrew Jenks) and Dylan Bader (6-0, 6-0 over Alexander Israel).
The Purple Eagles also got wins by the doubles teams of Matt Kovaleski-Emilie Barleben (6-1, 6-0 over Nick Sutch and Christian Young), Matt Flanagan-Victor Benjovsky (6-1, 6-0 over Marissa Jowdy and Grace Harris) and Owen Foos-Connor McQuillan (6-0, 6-0 over Natalie Bruning and Maya Gooding).
Medina was sparked by straight set was at the three singles positions by Kristian Snyder (6-0, 6-1 over Jeremy Ribbeck), Tristan Sanders (6-4, 6-1 over Terrell Atkins) and Kyla Leno (6-0, 7-5 over Bobby Heers).
The Mustangs also won at second doubles as the duo of Nick Bogan and Ray Paull defeated Nick Heimiller and Austin Smith 6-2, 6-1 and at third doubles as Brandon Harris and Aedenn Cayea downed Michelle Schultz and Ashley Danev 6-1, 6-0.
Akron likewise was led by a trio of straight set singles wins as Ryan Meek defeated Elliot Spitzer 6-1, 6-1; Nathan Chubb downed Patrick Sheelar 6-1, 6-0 and Cierra Janis bested Connor Heiser 6-3, 6-1.
In earning doubles wins for the Tigers Jacob Meyer and Brandon Meek defeated Rachel Hutter and Angelina Ciarfella 6-3, 6-2; Morgan Wagner and Erica Papke downed Desree Taylor and Sam Koch 6-1, 6-2 and Dustin Earle and Cameron Brooks topped Aspen Moore and Caleb Reith.
