Her teachers wanted her to go on to Medical School, but there was no money for her to be able to do so. And she wanted nothing more than for her three sons to be able to go to college. They each had their own bedroom. And from little on up she made sure we each had a desk and a good lamp for her sons to study and do their homework.

She had a real gift of hospitality.
Maralee loved Monarch Butterflies. On the back of her tombstone where she will be buried with her husband is a picture of a Monarch Butterfly, along with the words to 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passing away; behold, all things have become new.” Maralee suffered for a lot of years with the debilitating effects of Parkinson’s. Her family praises God that her suffering is over, and that for her all things have become new.

He looked forward to morning coffee breaks with “the guys” at the Apollo and McDonalds.
Ken was proud to represent the people of Carlton as a Town Councilman for many years followed by several years as an Orleans County Legislator. His greatest joy was his family but he spent a lifetime farming, working the soil from sun up to sun down with dedication, patience and pride. Farming was more than an occupation, it was a way of life. He started the family business known to many locally as “Rush’s.” Through long days, changing seasons and years of hard work Ken remained deeply committed to the land and to providing for family and community.
