Panther booters best Mustangs

A quick two goal scoring burst midway through the first half proved to be the difference as Newfane downed Medina/Lyndonville 3-1 this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League soccer game at Vets Park.

Breaking away from a 1-1 deadlock, Chad Gilson scored two quick goals, with 18 and 14 minutes remaining in the first half, to put Newfane ahead to stay at 3-1.

The Panthers also scored the game’s first goal, a tally by Trevor Moreland.

Medina/Lyndonville did answer right back with a tying goal by Greg Husung but the Mustangs could not dent the Panthers net again.

Medina/Lyndonville is now 3-1 and Newfane 2-0 in N-O action.

Roy-Hart 2, Albion 1 (2OT)
Colton Spicer’s second goal of the game with three minutes to go in the second overtime earned Roy-Hart a narrow 2-1 win over Albion this evening at Gasport. His first tally came in the second half and tied the contest at 1-1.

Albion took a 1-0 lead in the first half as Jacoby Miller scored off an assist from Marcos Sanchez.

Roy-Hart is now 1-1 and Albion 0-3.

Akron 3, CSAT 2 (2OT)
Tristan Olszewski scored in the second overtime period to give Akron the win at CSAT.

Brian Whitbeck scored Akron’s first two goals.

Akron is now 2-1 and CSAT 0-2.
