A three at the buzzer earned No. 5 seed Falconer a dramatic 58-55 win over No. 4 Roy-Hart in a Section VI Class B2 boys basketball quarterfinal game at Roy-Hart this afternoon.

Mathis Baehr, who finished with a game high 29 points, drilled the three at the buzzer to earn Falconer a trip to the B2 semifinals.

Roy-Hart had tied the game twice late on baskets by Dan Aquilina, first at 53-53 with 1:45 to go and again at 55-55 with 57 seconds remaining.

The Rams last lead came at 51-49 after an 8-0 run which included a rebound bucket and a layup by Aquilina, a rebound basket by Brayden Ricker and two free throws by Rem Albee.

Roger Markham, who had 12 points on the day for Falconer, interrupted that Rams run with a three to put the Falcons back up 52-51.

A free throw by Maximus Parmentier upped the Falcons lead to 53-51. Aguilina and Baehr then traded baskets for the game’s final seven points as Baehr’s three at the buzzer was the game winner.

Webber had a two and a three, Dan Aquilina a pair of baskets and Swygert a three during that stretch to keep the Rams close.

Falconer maintained narrow two point leads of 29-27 at the half and 45-43 after three quarters.

A basket by Parmentier and a pair of free throws by Roger Markham upped the Falcons lead to six, 49-43, at the outset of the decisive final period.

The Rams answered back with a key 8-0 run including tallies by Dan Aquilina, Ricker and Albee, to regain a 51-49 lead and the contest was a tight sea-saw battle over the hectic final three minutes.

Falconer will now face top seeded MST in the semifinals on Wednesday at Buffalo State College. MST edged No. 8 Wilson 53-49.
