Albion girls rally late to edge Akron

Putting together a big fourth quarter scoring surge, Albion rallied to down visiting Akron 55-51 in a Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball game this evening.

Trailing by nine, 40-31, after three quarters, Albion exploded for 24 points in the final period to claim the win.

Madison Hughson scored 14, including 8 of 10 from the free throw line, and Leah Pawlak 5, including 3 free throws, to spark the Purple Eagles in the decisive final period.

Hughson finished with 26, Pawlak 8, Kenzi Snook 7 and Julia Knight and Daci Doward 6.

Sloan Jonathan led Akron with 17.

Akron is now 6-2 and Albion 4-4 in N-O action.
