Medina/Lyndonville booters blank CSAT in N-O season opener

Two unanswered goals in each half powered Medina/Lyndonville to a 4-0 victory over host CSAT this afternoon in a season opening Niagara-Orleans League boys soccer game.

Medina/Lyndonville jumped out to a 2-0 first half advantage on goals by James Ianni and Brian Anderson, off an assist from Collin Dunn.

Second half goals by Steven Anderson, from Vassilios Bitsas, and by Brian Anderson, from Ian Smith, then put a firm lock on the Mustangs victory.

Justin Morgan earned the shutout in goal for Medina/Lyndonville whose defense was anchored by the quartet of Dunn, Josh Klotzbach, Paul Kurz and Colm Cooper.

“Our defense played outstanding,” said Medina/Lyndonville Coach Steve Luksch.

Medina/Lyndonville next visits Albion at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Albion dropped a 3-0 non league decision at Wheatland-Chili this evening.

In one other N-O opener, Wilson defeated host defending champion Akron 3-1.
