Weekend split for RBM club hockey team
The Roy-Hart/Barker/Medina club hockey team split a pair of non league games over the weekend defeating Cheektowaga 7-4 and losing to St. Joe’s 8-7 in overtime.
RBM 7, Cheektowaga 4
Luc Wagner (Medina) scored three goals in RBM’s win at Cheektowaga Friday evening.
Each team scored one goal in each of the first two periods. RBM’s scores were by Joel Harris (Barker) and Wagner, with assists by Cameron Bryer (Wilson) and Lawson Wallworth (Roy-Hart).
Early in the final period, RBM got goals from Holden Burkhard (Newfane) and Wagner, but Cheektowaga again tied the game. The game winner was scored by Jackson Hauser (Barker) with goals by Wagner and Bryer finishing the scoring. Assists came from Colby Boyer (Newfane), Wagner and Burkhard. Ninth grader Jordan Johnson (Medina) got his first win in goal.
St. Joe’s 8, RBM 7 (OT)
Once again on the road, the RBM hockey team lost in OT to St. Joe’s Sunday evening.
Getting on the board first, Harris (B) scored from Jack Goehle (Newfane). St. Joe’s responded with three goals in the period.
In the second, Boyer scored, but RBM was to trail 5-3 at the end of two after Harris scored again.
In the Third, RBM scored four straight goals to take the lead. Scoring were Jackson Hauser (B), Wagner, Boyer, and Harris.
However, with just 47 seconds left in the game, St. Joe’s tied to send it into overtime. On the power play, St. Joe’s scored.
Harris also had two assists as did Boyer.
RBM returns to action next weekend with divisional games at St. Mary’s on Friday and City Honors/Cardinal O’Hare on Saturday.
