GCC soccer squad has large Orleans contingent

Off to a strong 11-3 start to the season, the Genesee Community College women’s soccer squad includes a large contingent of Orleans County players.

That local group includes forward Kayla Doyle and defender Kelsey Schmitt from Albion, midfielders Nicki Mauro and Rachel Oliver and defender Claudia Passarell from Holley, midfielder Ashley Makowski from Kendall and forward Taylor Miller from Medina. All are freshmen except Makowski and Oliver who are sophomores.

Makowski has 12 goals and 4 assists, Doyle 11 goals and 6 assists, Miller 3 goals and 6 assists and Mauro 3 goals and 3 assists so far for the Lady Cougars.

In addition, Passarell was named the GCC Athlete of the Week this past week.
