Bulldogs down Purple Eagles
Pulling away in the third quarter, Burgard went on to defeat host Albion 54-42 this evening in a non league basketball game.
Leading by a narrow 18-16 margin at the half, Burgard used a 14-5 third period surge to open up a 32-21 advantage at the three-quarter mark. Jaelyn Hall scored 6 to lead that surge.
The Bulldogs then outscored the Purple Eagles 22-21 in the final stanza to lock up the victory. Zion Hall scored 7 and Isaiah Johnson 6 to lead that surge.
Zion Hall and Johnson both finished with a total of 16 points.
Austin Loyd led Albion with 18 points, including five threes, as Alex Bison added 7, Des Blackmon and Manny Thompson 5 each and Kory Reynolds 4.
Loyd had a three and three free throws, Blackmon a bucket and a three and Bison a three for Albion in the final stanza.
The contest was the season opener for Albion while Burgard improves to 2-0.

Roy-Hart Tournament
Falling behind 11-0 after one quarter, the host Lady Rams dropped a 41-29 decision to Tonawanda this evening in the semifinals of the Roy-Hart Tournament.
Kendall Hill scored 14 for Roy-Hart which will now face Bennett, which downed Bennett in the other semi, in the consolation game at 5 p.m. Saturday.
Tonawanda will face Nichols in the title contest at 7 p.m.
