Albion Beginner Eagles win playoff title
The Albion Beginner Eagles capped off a perfect 9-0 season with an exciting 27-25 victory over Roy-Hart/Barker in the Niagara Orleans Football Association (NOFA) playoff finals Saturday at Batavia.
Albion had one offensive drive in each quarter.
In the first quarter a 4 play 60 yard drive was finished with a 34 yard touchdown run by Greyson Roberts. Conor Murphy ran in the PAT.
The second quarter was a 2 play 60 yard drive capped with a 59 yard TD run by Elian Almonte. Roberts added the PAT.
The third quarter saw another short 2 play 60 yard drive with a Moses Taylor 33 yard TD. Roberts added another PAT.
And putting the Eagles ahead for good was a 88 yard fumble return for a TD by Roberts in the final quarter.
RHB scored on the final play of the game to make it 27-25. Jesus Vallejo had a sack on the PAT to clinched the Championship for the Eagles.
Almonte had 16 tackles to lead the defense. Taylor had 10, Roberts 8, Murphy 6, Vallejo and Carter Carithers 4 each, Patrick Westlund 3, Finn Woodhams 2 and Chase Armer 1.
Mini Division Final
The Albion Mini Eagles fell short to Roy-Hart/Barker 21-15.
Albion took a 8-7 lead at the half and a 15-13 lead in the 4th before RHB scored a touchdown and a two-point conversion to put them up for good 21-15.
Camden Holt picked up 101 yards on the ground with 2 touchdowns. Jayce Torres finished with 91 yards on the ground.
Harrison Froman and Holt led the defense with 6 tackles. Liam Saporito had 5 tackles on the day. Kiro Bennett and Jace DiMatteo had 4 each. Liam Pearl and Cayden Farrell 3 each.
