Albion spikers grab N-O lead with key victory over Newfane

Taking over sole possession of first place, defending champion Albion posted a straight set 25-16, 25-13, 25-7 victory over visiting Newfane this evening in a key Niagara-Orleans volleyball league clash of unbeatens.

Setting the tone, Albion took charge at the outset as Meghan Hurley served up points 2-9, Chanyce Powell 11-18 and Sara Millspaugh 20-22 in the opening set. Powell also had a kill for the set winning point.

The victory keeps Albion perfect at 4-0 while Newfane slips to 3-1.

Powell finished with 7 kills, 5 digs, 2 aces and 4 blocks; Millspaugh 5 kills, 4 digs and 3 aces; Hurley 2 kills, 8 digs, 5 aces and 11 assists; Kelsee Soule 8 kills, 11 digs and 3 aces; Olivia Neidert 2 kills2 digs and 5 assists; Aleah Foos 3 blocks, Elizabeth Bentley 6 digs and Morgan Ferris 1 block for the Purple Eagles.

In Genesee Region League action, Lyndonville defeated visiting Wheatland-Chili 25-17, 25-18, 25-11.

Hayley Wetherbee had 10 aces, Morgan Hungerford 9 kills and Cierra Riley 4 kills for the Lady Tigers.
