Albion harriers open at home Tuesday
Albion will begin Niagara-Orleans League boys and girls cross-country competition by hosting Akron Tuesday on the Purple Eagles campus course.
The trio of senior Aaron Chen and juniors Nick Neilans and Evan Pappalardo heads Albion’s boys squad which also includes senior Chase Vanquez; juniors Jason Downs, Matt Flanagan, Brady Meakin, Cody Osborne, Jordan Wolcott; sophomores Freeman Lattin and Evan Steier and freshman Noah Wadhams.
Junior Meredith Patterson, who earned first team N-O All-League honors last fall, heads the Albion girls squad along with senior Madyson Coville and freshman Hannah Grammar. The Purple Eagles lineup also includes seniors Nita Bela, Logan London and Megan Rosato; juniors Caitlin Malanowski and Abby Wells; sophomore Hannah Wehling and eighth graders Malory Adams, Kaylyn Holman, Emma Mathes and Kirsten Struble.
“Last year we were pretty inexperienced but we’ve got some good returnees and we’ve had the best practices I’ve had in a while. They are really focused,” said Coach Mark Hryvniak. “It’s a strong league but our goal is to be competitive.”
The Akron girls squad is the two-time defending N-O champions.

Oct. 7 – at Medina vs. CSAT and Medina, 4:45 p.m.
Oct. 14 – home vs. Wilson and Roy-Hart, 4:45 p.m.
Oct. 25 – All-League meet at Lakeside State Park, 11 a.m.
