Medina downs rival Albion in volleyball
Medina closed out the Niagara-Orleans League volleyball season on a high note this evening with a Senior Night 25-17, 25-20, 25-16 victory over rival Albion.
A key run of 7 straight service points by Kelsey Lemoi (9-15), which included 3 aces, put Medina up 15-6 in the opening set. Lexoni Russo tacked on points 18-20, including an ace, and Ki’Mani Poole served up an ace for the set winner.
Sam Heschke had a run of 5 straight points (5-9) including 3 aces to put Medina on top 9-8 in the second set.
Single points were the rule for the rest of the set except for back to back aces served up by Maddy Watts which gave the Mustangs a 21-16 lead.
The Mustangs closed out the match with a third set victory as Lorelei Sanders served up points 2-4 and 18-22, including a pair of aces, and Russo scored points 14-16 including an ace.
Sanders had 5 aces on the evening, Lemoi and Heschke 4 and Poole, Russo and Watts 2 each. Poole also had 4 kills and Addy Paul 2.
Madison Hughson had 4 aces and Julia Knight 2 for Albion.
Medina finishes the N-O season at 3-7 and Albion 0-10.
Roy-Hart 25-25-25, Newfane 8-19-8
Roy-Hart completed an 8-2 N-O campaign with a 25-8, 25-19, 25-8 win over Newfane (3-7).
Raegan Kern had 6 kills and Lila Brigham and Grace Pearl 3 each for Roy-Hart as Ella Martillotta added 5 aces and 6 assists.
Akron 25-25-25, Wilson 15-21-17
Defending champion Akron completed a 9-1 N-O title season with a three set win over Wilson.
