Albion girls down Roy-Hart

Coming on strong after a slow start, Albion defeated visiting Roy-Hart 53-22 this evening to improve to 4-1 in Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball action.
Trailing 12-7 after one quarter, Albion rallied to outscore Roy-Hart 13-3 in the second period to rally into a 20-15 half-time advantage. Kelsee Soule, Chanyce Powell and Justice Nauden each had four points to lead that rally.
Keeping the momentum, the Purple Eagles then outscored the Lady Rams 16-2 in the third period to extend the advantage to 36-17 at the three-quarter mark. Soule netted 8 and Powell 7 during that stretch.
Soule finished with a game high 19 and Powell 10 as Savannah Allen netted 9, Nauden 6, Jessica Raglan 4 Emily Blanchard and Jayne Bannister 2 and Mandy Covis 1.
Bri Lewandowski scored 8 and Becky Harnish 7 for Roy-Hart which slips to 1-4.
Barker 37, Medina 24
Trailing 19-15 at the half, Barker used a 12-2 third period scoring burst to key a 37-24 victory over visiting Medina.
The Lady Raiders then put a lock on the victory by outpointing the Mustangs 10-3 in the fourth quarter.
Caitlyn Mason scored 10 points, Gabby Clare 7, Julia Atwater and Melissa Grosshans 5, Morgan Brown 4 and Olivia Denny and Alex VeRosh 3 for Barker. Brown and Mason also each grabbed off 10 rebounds.
Emily Kams led Medina with 10 points as Taylor Miller added 5, D’Andrea Salone 3 and Madeline Winters, Molley Gross and Roman Hamner 2 each.
Medina slips to 1-4.
Wilson 49, CSAT 26
Dana Smith had 20 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks; Ali Bubar 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals and Emily Lasher 8 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists to lead defending champion Wilson (3-0) past CSAT (0-4) 49-26.
In one other N-O contest, Newfane (4-1) defeated Akron (1-3) 63-35.
N-O Swimming
Newfane sweeps Akron
Newfane swept to a doubleheader victory over host Akron this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League swim meet.
In the boys meet, Newfane (3-2) downed Akron (0-5) 102-40 and in the girls competition, the Lady Panthers (5-0) bested the Lady Tigers (1-4) 104-66.
Mitch Dockery doubled in the 200 and 500 freestyle events and Brandon Macfarlane in the 50 and 100 free for the Newfane boys while Kiki Dy won both the 100 free and 200 individual medley for the Lady Panthers.
