Long time soccer coach enjoying his final season with AYSO program

He’s enjoyed playing it since he was a youngster and for the past three decades Carl Husung has enjoyed passing on that love of the game of soccer to the next generation as a AYSO youth soccer coach.

“Soccer, it’s my passion,” said Husung who will be retiring as an AYSO coach after this season, which is his 29th with the organization.

“I love planting the seeds for the enjoyment of soccer,” said Husung of his love of coaching the young players. “Introducing kids to the game and seeing them develop and have fun playing soccer that is the most joy for me.”

“I just enjoyed playing it as a kid and it’s been my passion. I just wanted to share it,” added Husung who who this summer is coaching an AYSO 4-5 year old squad assisted by his daughter Sharon.

“She’s been a God sent,” said Husung of Sharon who notes that being able to coach his children in the AYSO program over the years has been a special part of the coaching experience for him.

Husung, who in the fall serves as a volunteer assistant coach with the Medina High boys varsity soccer team, previously coached the Roy-Hart boys varsity soccer team for 20 years.
