Wilson cagers post key win at Albion

Jumping out to a 10 point first quarter lead, front-running Wilson went on to defeat host Albion 55-40 this evening to improve to 7-0 and maintain a two game lead a top the Niagara-Orleans League boys basketball standings.
Kyle Bradley poured in a game high 26 points and Nick Shank added 15 to spearhead the Wilson attack. Zach Sarratori and Adam Murray both chipped in with 5 and Andrew Eames 4 for the Lakemen.
Des Blackmon scored 12 and Clayton Stanton 9 for Albion as Alex Bison added 6, Tommy Mattison and Austin Loyd 5 each and Gary Moore 3.
Wilson jumped out to a 17-7 first quarter lead as Bradley netted 7, Shank 6 and Sarratori 4.
The Lakemen maintained leads of 26-14 at the half and 40-27 at the three-quarter mark.
Bradley had 8 in the third period for Wilson while Stanton netted 7 and Blackmon 6 to keep Albion close.
The Purple Eagles did cut the deficit to seven twice early in the fourth quarter, first at 42-35 after threes by Loyd and Bison, and then at 44-37 after a pair of free throws by Loyd.
However, on both occasions Bradley answered with a clutch basket to give Wilson a little breathing room.

In fact, after Albion closed to within 44-37, Bradley’s layup ignited a n 11-3 stretch run which put a firm lock on the Lakemen’s victory. Bradley had a total of 8 points and Shank went 4 for 4 from the free throw line in the final stanza.
The loss drops Albion to 4-4 in N-O action.
CSAT 66, Roy-Hart 55
CSAT made if four victories in a row after a slow 0-3 start to the N-O season by defeating Roy-Hart 66-55.
Andy Xapsos scored 15, Nelson Andrade 12 and Justin Heschke and Chris Anderson 10 each for Roy-Hart which was playing its fourth game in the last five days.
Roy-Hart is now 2-6 in N-O action.
Girls Basketball
Wilson 36, Albion 31
Defending champion Wilson improved to 7-0 by edging past visiting Albion (5-3) 36-31 as Kayla Neuman and Rachel Senek each tallied 10 to lead a parade of nine point getters.
Chanyce Powell scored 12 and Justice Nauden 7 for Albion.
Wilson held leads of 10-3 after one period, 19-15 at the half and 27-24 after three quarters.
In one other N-O contest, CSAT (4-3) defeated Roy-Hart (1-7) 46-16.
