Mustangs roll past Golden Eagles
Scoring touchdowns on six of eight possessions, Medina rolled to a 41-0 victory over host Cleveland Hill in a Class C North Division game this afternoon.
Quarterback Julian Woodworth ran for four touchdowns and running back Christian Moss two to lead the Medina attack as Cole Callard added five extra point kicks.
In registering the shutout, the Medina defensive unit kept Cleve Hill from penetrating the Mustangs 35 yard line. Xavier Bloom and Jerrell Nealy both had fumble recoveries.
Medina grabbed a 7-0 first quarter lead with a nine minute long, penalty filled drive capped off by a 12 yard touchdown run by Woodworth.
The Mustangs then broke the contest open with a big 20 point second quarter to take a commanding 27-0 lead at the half.
Moss opened that scoring burst with a 5 yard touchdown run capping a drive highlighted by Woodworth pass completions of 19 and 12 yards to Brody Fry.
Woodworth then scored on an 11 yard TD run on the Mustangs next possession which was keyed by back-to-back runs of 19 and 16 yards by Moss.
Woodworth capped off the big quarter with a 1 yard touchdown run as time expired. Woodworth had runs of 14, 13 and 12 yards and a 14 yard pass completion to Justin Pitts on the drive.
Moss scored on a 4 yard touchdown run in the third quarter and Woodworth on a 44 yard TD carry in the final period to round out the Mustangs scoring. Moss had a 26 yard run and Woodworth an 18 yard pass completion to Fry to highlight the third quarter score.
Improving to 2-0 in the division and 3-0 overall, Medina next visits Akron on Friday at 7 p.m.
The loss drops Cleve Hill to 0-1, 1-2.
C North weekend results: Newfane used a 14 point fourth quarter to lock up a 26-7 win over Akron at Clarence on Friday night and Eden, which had to forfeit to Medina last weekend due to an insufficient number of players, routed JFK 37-8 this afternoon.
