Seahorses take two from Purple Eagles

Completing a home and home series sweep, Medina bested host Albion this morning in a Niagara-Orleans League swim meet.

Medina, which also scored a sweep over Albion at home on Thursday, won the boys meet 59-35 and the girls competition 59-34.

Chase Pecoraro doubled in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke and Kristian Snyder in the 100 free and 100 breaststroke to lead the Medina boys squad which also had Austin Brown win the 100 butterfly.

The Seahorses also swept all three relays as Pecoraro, Snyder, Brown and Austin Heil took the 200 medley; Damian Norrish, Derek Donley, Snyder and Heil the 200 free and Brown, Heil, Donley and Pecoraro the 400 free.

Morgan Seielstad was a double winner in the 200 and 500 freestyle events and Matt Kovaleski took the 200 individual medley for Albion.

The Medina boys squad improves to 4-1 while Albion slips to 1-3.

Emma Gardner doubled in the 50 and 100 freestyle events for the Medina girls squad which also had Andrea Toussaint win the butterfly, Alyssa Beyer the 500 free, Krista Nellist the backstroke and Haylee Cogovan the breaststroke.

Nellist, Gardner and Beyer also teamed up with Cogovan to win the 200 medley relay and with Toussaint to take the 200 free relay.

Olivia Neidert won the 200 free and Elizabeth Furmanski the individual medley for Albion.

Neidert and Furmanski also combined with Sarah Graham and Rylie Lear to win the 400 free relay.

Medina is now 2-3 and Albion 0-4.

Medina next hosts Barker and Albion entertains Newfane at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
