R-H girls edge Akron; Medina, Albion bow
A goal in the opening seconds proved to be enough to earn defending champion Roy-Hart a narrow 1-0 win over host Akron this afternoon in a key early season Niagara-Orleans League girls soccer game.
Kaitlin Mettler scored the lone goal just 30 seconds in off a corner by Kaylie Churchill.
Roy-Hart is now 2-0 and Akron 2-1.
In the other N-O games, Wilson also improved to 2-0 with a 15-0 win at Medina (0-3) and Newfane (2-1) edged visiting Albion (0-3) 1-0 in overtime.
Addy Elia and Rian Faery both scored 3 goals to lead a parade of 10 Wilson goal scorers.
Field Hockey
Wilson blanked host Kenmore 3-0 this evening setting up a key early season Niagara-Orleans League field hockey battle for first place at Akron on Friday. Wilson and Akron are both 3-0.
Natalie Rossi scored 2 goals and Mackenzie Hardy 1 got Wilson.
