Mustangs roll past Lancers in season opener

Scoring early and often Medina romped to a 63-0 victory over St. Mary’s of Lancaster this afternoon in a season opening non league game at Lancaster.

The Mustangs took command at the outset exploding out to a 35-0 first quarter lead on touchdown runs of 9 yards by Brody Fry, 5 yards by Julian Woodworth and 50 yards by Noah Cudzilo along with a 10 yard TD pass from Woodworth to Fry and a 30 yard interception return for a score by Kaedon Cleveland. The TD aerial was the Mustangs only pass of the afternoon.

The lead increased to 49-0 at the half on second quarter TD runs of 5 yards by Will Prest and 35 yards by Fry.

Third quarter TD runs of 15 yards by Liam Castricone and 10 yards by Christian Moss rounded out the scoring. Moss rushed for a total of 132 yards on the afternoon.

Mustangs place kicker Cole Callard tied his own school record by going a perfect 9 for 9 in extra point kicks.

Defensively, Cudzilo had a pair of interceptions.

The meeting was the Mustangs first ever against the Lancers.

Medina next host Eden in the C North Division opener next Friday at 7 p.m.
