Roy-Hart tops Medina in field hockey
Wilson battles to tie with Barker in shootout
Regaining the .500 mark at 2-2, Roy-Hart blanked visiting Medina 6-0 this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League field hockey game.
In other N-O action, Wilson battled to a 1-1 tie with defending champion Barker in a contest which went to a shootout and Akron blanked Newfane 6-0. Those results leave Akron in first place at 3-0 followed by Wilson at 3-0-1 and Barker at 2-0-1.
Angelina Ciarfella scored the three goal hat-trick to lead the attack for Roy-Hart which also got tallies from Samanatha Choate, Shannon Dent and Alyssa Ickowski.
Roy-Hart grabbed a 2-0 lead at the half as Ciarfella scored two quick goals at the 16 and 13 minute marks.
Ciarfella then completed her hat-trick with a goal to open the second half.
Choate, Dent and Ickowski then each followed up with a goal to round out the scoring.
The loss drops Medina to 1-3.
Medina JVs improve to 4-0
The Medina JV team stayed unbeaten at 4-0 by nipping Roy-Hart 1-0 on a goal by Micaela Erway.
Earlier in the season, Medina blanked Wilson 2-0 and Kenmore 7-0 before outlasting Akron in a shootout on goals by Layna Viloria and Libby Cook.
Barker 1, Wilson 1
Erin Boyle scored for Wilson and Natalie Menz for Barker in the shootout which left the key early season contest deadlocked at 1-1.
Boyle also scored Wilson’s lone goal in regulation time as Becky Stoloski answered with the tying goal for Barker. Both goals came in the second half.
Neither team could score in the 10 minute overtime period which set the stage for the shootout.
Akron 6, Newfane 0
Abby Stone and Heather Cummings both scored two goals to lead the attack for Akron in the win over Newfane (0-3).
Sarah Schultz and Rachel Heim each added a goal for the Lady Tigers.
