Purple Eagles rally past Raiders
Rebounding from an 11 point halftime deficit, Albion battled back to defeat visiting Barker 64-55 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League boys basketballl game.
Austin Loyd scored 18 and Alex Bison 11 for Albion which improves to 7-4 in N-O action. Manny Thompson and Des Blackmon both added 8, Tommy Mattison 6, Gary Moore 5, Korey Reynolds 4 and Tyler Rotoli and Manwell Taylor 2 each for the Purple Eagles.
Chistopher Sweeney scored 17, Thomas Callaghan 15, Josh Mead 12 and Nathan Luckman 7 for Barker which slips tp 1-9.
Barker though jumped out to a 17-7 first period lead as Sweeney scored 7 and Luckman 4 in the early going.
The Raiders maintained a 31-20 advantage at the half as Mead scored 8 in the second period.
Albion though came battling back in the second half.
The Purple Eagles used a 16-11 third period surge, highlighted by three threes by Loyd, to cut the deficit to six, 42-36, at the three-quarter mark.
Albion then exploded for 28 points in the final quarter including 9 by Bison, 6 by Blackmon and Loyd and 5 by Mattison, to rally for the victory.
Newfane 69, CSAT 61
Kyle Burdick scored 25 and Tyler Jordan 23 to spark Newfane (3-8) to the 69-61 win over CSAT (6-5).
Newfane, which made good on 24 of 27 free throw attempts, led 35-29 at the half and 48-39 at the three-quarter mark.
Akron 42, Roy-Hart 40
Akron (5-5) edged past host Roy-Hart (2-9) 42-40 as Gates Abrams led the Tigers with 15.
Andy Xapsos scored 14, Sam White 10 and Nelson Andrade 8 for Roy-Hart which led 24-22 at the half. The Rams trailed 33-30 after three quarters.
