Newfane girls surge past Medina

Taking charge in the second quarter, Newfane defeated visiting Medina 55-29 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball game.
Brooke Horning scored 15 to lead the way for Newfane which improves to 7-1 in N-O action. Olivia Littman added 8, Maggie Korpf and Emily Knight 7, Allison Emborsky 6 and Bailey Koithan, Katie Kneeland and Paige Emborsky 4 each for the Lady Panthers.
Emily Kams and Molley Gross each scored 8 for Medina which slips to 0-8. Maddy Winters added 5, Nicole Blount 4 and Emma Ambrose and Allison Bensley 2 each for the Mustangs.
Medina stayed within two at 15-13 early in the second quarter after baskets by Blount and Gross but Newfane answered with an 11-0 run to close the period and take control.
A three-point play by Knight ignited that spurt which included tallies by five different players and vaulted the Lady Panthers into a 26-13 halftime advantage.
Horning and Littman both scored a pair of baskets in the third period to help keep Newfane in command by 14, 38-24, at the three-quarter mark.

CSAT 50, Barker 38
Jumping out to a 17-9 first period lead, CSAT went on to defeat visiting Barker 50-38.
Melissa Grosshans scored 17 and Caitlyn Mason 13 to lead the way for Barker which trailed 26-19 at the half ad 38-30 after three quarters.
CSAT is now 5-3 and Barker 2-5 in N-O competition.
