Medina Mustangs FC scores semifinal win
Keeping the momentum, the No. 3 seeded Medina Mustangs FC downed host No. 2 LA United 3-1 Sunday in the semifinals of the Buffalo District Soccer League Division 3 playoffs.
The victory propels Medina Mustangs FC into next Sunday’s Division 3 championship game against top seeded Ukraine at 3 p.m. at Sahlens Sports Park. Ukraine blanked No. 5 JL Dutch 3-0 in the other semifinal.
Three players scored goals to lead the way for Medina as Jose Perez tallied off an assist from Nate Dillenbeck, Ethan Leonard from Casey Winicki and Steven Anderson on a penalty kick.
Medina, which tied LA United 1-1 during the regular season, improves to 9-2-1 having won 8 of its last 9 games. The lone loss during that long stretch was a late season 4-1 loss to Ukraine.
