CSAT outlasts Albion in overtime

Building up a 22 point halftime advantage, Medina romped to a 76-47 victory over host Akron this evening to improve to 5-1 in Niagara-Orleans League boys basketball action.

In the other N-O contests, Wilson (5-0) defeated Roy-Hart (1-4) 61-48, CSAT (2-3) outlasted host Albion (3-3) 85-82 in overtime and Newfane (2-3) trimmed Barker (0-5) 61-56.

Justin Morgan poured in a career high 33 points, including 8 threes, to spearhead the Medina attack.

Dylan Lewis added 19 points, including three threes, and Jason Hellwig had 10 points and a game high 18 rebounds for the Mustangs. Tyler Ames chipped in with 5 points, Brennnan Zinkievich 4, Brad McPherson 3 and Devonte Howard 2.

Caleb Martin scored 13 and Gates Abrams 10 for Akron which slips to 3-2.

Morgan erupted for 14 quick points and Lewis 9 in the opening quarter to spark Medina out to a 26-14 lead.

The Mustangs extended the advantage to 46-24 at the half and to 63-40 at the three-quarter mark.

CSAT 85, Albion 82 OT

Clayton Stanton scored 27 and grabbed off 17 rebounds and Austin Loyd netted 19 points to lead Albion in the narrow overtime loss to CSAT.

Alex Bison added 10, Des Blackmon 9 and Manny Thompson and Tommy Mattison 7 each for the Purple Eagles.

The contest was deadlocked at 68-68 at the end of regulation time.

CSAT held leads of 24-16 after one quarter and 37-36 at the half but Albion battled back with a 19-9 third period to rally into a 55-46 advantage at the three-quarter mark.

Wilson 61, Roy-Hart 48

Kyle Bradley and Evan Shank combined for 56 points to lead Wilson past host Roy-Hart 61-48.

Bradley took game high honors with 32, including 14 in the second quarter and 8 in the fourth. Shank added 24 including 9 in the first quarter and 8 in the fourth.

Wilson grabbed a 16-12 lead at the end of the first period and upped the advantage to 33-19 at the half and to 45-33 after three quarters.

Andy Xapsos led Roy-Hart with 25.

Newfane 61, Barker 56

Newfane turned back a big fourth quarter Barker rally to claim the narrow 61-56 victory.

Up 46-29 after three quarters, Newfane saw Barker explode for 27 points in the final stanza to make the finish exciting.

Sam Watkins had 19 points and 14 rebounds to lead the way for Newfane.

Kyle Burdick added 12, Tyler Jordan 9 and Max Weber and Chad Gilson 7 each for the Panthers.

Thomas Callaghan took game high scoring honors with 21 for Barker as Nate Luckman added 9 and Christpher Sweeney 8.
