Medina Broncos top Albion JV Eagles in playoff semifinals

Scoring in every quarter, the Medina Broncos defeated the Albion JV Eagles 33-20 Saturday in the semifinal round of the Niagara Orleans Football Association JV Division playoffs at Oakfield.

Lavonn Guy rushed for 208 yards and 4 touchdowns on plays covering 34, 32, 18 and 84 yards, to lead the way for the Broncos.

Iverson Poole added 92 yards rushing including a 28 yard touchdown carry.

Guy also ran for an extra point and quarterback Xander Payne passed to Anthony Monell for a two-point conversion.

On defense, Chris Johnson had 8 tackles, Zack Oliver 6 tackles and 3 sacks, Brandon Collins 6 tackles and 2 fumble recoveries, Guy and Poole 5 tackles each and Hayden Woodroe 3 tackles and an interception.

Amari Jones ran for two touchdowns and passed for another for Albion.

For Albion, quarterback Amari Jones had 52 yards rushing, including a pair of 1 yard touchdown runs. He also threw a 36 yard TD pass to Tyler Gibson and a two-point conversion pass to Javon Jones.

Defensively, Chris Porter made 7 tackles, Amari Jones 6 tackles and Javon Jones 5 tackles and an interception.

The Broncos will next host Akron in the playoff championship game at 6 p.m. next Saturday at Vets Park. Akron defeated Tri-Town 28-7 in the other semifinal.

Varsity Division

Newfane 19, Medina Stallions 6
Sydney Brown scored the lone touchdown for the Medina Stallions on a 6 yard run in the 19-6 Varsity Division semifinal loss to Newfane. He had 102 yards rushing on the night as Emmanual Taylor added 42 yards.

On defense, Tyler Chinn had 2 interceptions and Taylor 7 tackles for the Stallions.
