Boxwood planning tea-time fundraiser at historic cemetery on Saturday
MEDINA – Friends of Boxwood Cemetery is sponsoring a unique fundraiser on Saturday to benefit projects of the cemetery association.
Tea Time at Boxwood Cemetery will replicate similar events which were popular at the turn of century, said Cindy Robinson, a member of Friends of Boxwood Cemetery and owner of the English Rose Tea Shoppe.
Georgia Thomas of Medina will talk about how people used to picnic in the cemetery decades ago. Tea sandwiches, scones and sweets will be served with cups of tea in small baskets.
Tickets are limited to 25 and those attending should bring a lawn chair or blanket on which to sit.
A teatime picnic basket will be given away and everyone who attends will get one chance with their purchase of a ticket. If they arrive dressed in tea time finery they will receive two tickets, but if they join Friends of Boxwood Cemetery prior to or day of the event, they will get five extra tickets.
The tea will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Tickets are available at English Rose Tea Shoppe for $20 for Friends of Boxwood Cemetery or $25 for nonmembers.
