Lady Tigers bow in 9 innings
Attica pushed across a run in the ninth inning to nip host Lyndonville 6-5 this afternoon snapping the Lady Tigers season opening Genesee Region League four game winning streak.
Aubrey Lewis had three hits, including a triple, for Lyndonville which also had Miranda Lembke with two hits and Rebekah Hoffee a double.
W-C 24, Holley 12
Bri VanAmmeron had 3 hits and Tabby Swift and Anna Brasted 2 each for Holley in the 24-12 G-R loss to visiting Wheatland-Chili.
Weather interrupts N-O contests
The combination of snow pellets and rain ended up halting play in both the Medina at Roy-Hart and Barker at Albion Niagara-Orleans League softball games.
Albion had rallied for 8 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 9-7 lead before the bad weather forced play to be halted in the top of the fifth. Natalie DiCureia and Olivia Prest each drove in a pair of runs for the Purple Eagles in the fourth.
DiCureia and Andrea Aman both had 3 hits and Prest 2 over the first four frames.
Roy-Hart held an 8-3 lead over Medina when play was halted in the second inning.
Akron 11, Wilson 4
In one completed N-O game, Akron (3-1) erupted for six quick runs in the first inning and went on to defeat Wilson (2-3) 11-4.
Akron put a lock on the win in the fifth inning as winning pitcher, Brooke Peters, Megan Kidder, Shaylie Carberry and Brittany Hudson all scored. Abby Stone then capped off the win with a home run in the sixth.
