Barre and Sandstone score Albion Midget League wins

Photo by Tom Rivers – Bailey Blanchard has been a big hitter for Sandstone this year. He had three hits in a win over Carlton last week.

Front-running Barre defeated Rotary 13-2 and runner-up Sandstone downed Carlton 13-4 last week in Albion Midget League games.

Liam Ward and Zander Meakin combined to hurl a 1 hitter for Barre which stays perfect at 12-0.

Ward also banged out 4 hits, including a home run, and drove in a total of 9 runs.
Kyle Pappalardo added 3 hits and Colby Furchen 2 for Barre.

Pat Ricker registered 12 strikeouts for Sandstone which improves to 8-3.

At the plate for Sandstone, Rylend Callicutt had 4 hits, including a home run, with 4 RBIs, Bailey Blanchard 3 hits and 2 RBIs and Ricker and Christian Doty 2 hits apiece.

The league will wrap up its regular season this coming week.

On Tuesday the matchups will have Barre at St. Mary’s, Vets vs. Actives at Midget League Field and Rotary at Holley, all at 6 p.m.

On Thursday the games will have Actives at Sandstone, Vets at Carlton, Holley at St. Mary’s and Barre vs. Rotary at Midget League Field, all at 6 p.m.

Sandstone also has a makeup game against Actives on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The playoffs will then begin on July 14 with the semifinals slated for July 16 and the finals for July 18.
