Spotlighting locals on the collegiate diamond

A good number of local student-athletes are competing on the collegiate diamonds this spring.

The Genesee Community College softball squad includes two local players, Medina’s Faith Oberther, a freshman pitcher/third baseman, and Lyndonville’s Jenahlee Riemer, a sophomore outfielder.

At Finger Lakes Community College, Roy-Hart’ Ryan Mettler is a freshman second baseman/shortstop for the Lakers baseball squad which is off to a strong 18-3 start. He is hitting .433 with 2 doubles and 15 RBI.

Medina’s Zach Fike is a freshman pitcher with the Niagara Community College baseball team which is also off to a strong 16-2 start. He has a 2-1 record on the mound with 14 strikeouts and a 0.00 earned run average in 13.1 innings of work.

Barker’s Sydnie Luckman and Roy-Hart’s Shelby Wolf are both sophomore infielders on the NCCC softball squad. Luckman his hitting .359 with 6 RBI and 10 runs scored and Wolf .373 with 19 RBI and 14 runs scored.

Medina’s Brian Fry is a sophomore second baseman for the Toledo University baseball squad. He is hitting .282 with 4 doubles, 1 home run, 11 RBI and 17 runs scored.

Roy-Hart’s Reanna Perkins has started all 24 games as the shortstop for the St. Bonaventure softball squad.
