Anchored by a good nucleus of nine returnees, the Roy-Hart Lady Rams are prepping to begin defense of their Niagara-Orleans League softball title.

Roy-Hart, which captured the N-O crown with a 12-0 record last spring, returns seniors Juliana Buscarino (inf.), Emmaline Verratti (inf/of), Maria Peracciny (first base) and Emily Scott (inf/of), sophomores Kaitlin Mettler (shortstop), Lila Brigham (infield) and freshmen Peyton May (catcher), Abby Fox (pitcher) and Hayley Hilburn (outfield).

Mettler earned first team N-O All League honors last spring while Brigham was a second team honoree and May an Honorable Mention selection.

“We’re young but we’ve got a good group back and they’re working hard,” said Coach Taylor Fry Kneeland.

The Lady Rams graduation losses included pitcher Reanna Perkins, who earned the N-O Player of the Year honors, along with outfielders Molly Russell and Marissa Scott.

Roy-Hart is scheduled to begin tuning up for its April 12 N-O opener at Akron by visiting Kenmore East on Wednesday.
