Mustangs post win over Lady Raiders

Avenging an earlier season road loss, Medina downed visiting Barker 49-38 in a Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball game this evening.

Rylee VanNostrand scored 19 and Stella Poler 18 to lead the way for Medina which improves to 3-6 in N-O action. Tatyana Baity added 4 and Hilda Santiago Bautista, Nevaeh Moss, Angel Mulcahy and Honesty Hill 2 each for the Mustangs.

Cole Carnes led Barker with 11 as Mia Herman added 7, Lillia Peace 6, Anna Bowerman and Keira Dalton 4 and Rachel Sutter and Michayla Green 2.

Up 10-8 after the first period, Medina extended its lead to 10, 27-17, at the half. VanNostrand scored 15 and Poler 6 to lead the Mustangs in the opening half.

The Mustangs maintained a 10 point, 36-26, lead at the three-quarter mark and Barker could get no closer than 5 in the final period.

Poler scored 9 and VanNostrand 4 in the final stanza to help lock up the win for the Mustangs.

Wilson 52, Albion 28
Front-running Wilson improved to 9-0 with a 52-28 win over host Albion which slips to 5-5.

Madison Hughson took game high scoring honors for Albion with 14 and Lilah Frerichs led Wilson with 12.

Wilson will next host runner-up Akron in a key contest on Thursday. Akron improved to 8-1 by downing Roy-Hart (1-8) 56-32.
