Winter storm warning today for Orleans and Niagara, 7 to 10 inches expected
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Orleans and Niagara counties until 10 p.m. today, with 7 to 10 inches of snow expected.
Light snow will continue through midday, and then will increase this afternoon into early evening with snowfall rates at 1 to 2 inches per hour.
The snow is forecast to mix with light rain this evening, with winds gusting as high as 35 mph this evening, the Weather Service said.
“Travel could be very difficult,” the Weather Service said. “The hazardous conditions will impact the evening commute.”
Genesee, Monroe and northern Erie counties also have a winter storm advisory until 10 p.m. with 4 to 8 inches of snow expected.
