Panthers score sweep over Seahorses

Newfane scored a win in the final event to nip host Medina 87-83 this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League boys swim meet.

Trailing by two, Newfane claimed the victory with a win by the 400 Freestyle Relay quartet of Thomas Schultz, Mark Connolly, Zach Lundy and Andrew Hamelink.

Hamelink was also a double winner in the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Freestyle and Schultz in the 200 Free and 500 Free for the Panthers which also had Lundy win the 100 Backstroke, Mark Connolly the 100 Butterfly and Nick Connolly the 100 Breaststroke.

Chase Pecoraro won the 50 Free for Medina.

Newfane and Medina are now both 3-3.

The defending champion Newfane girls completed the sweep by downing Medina 109-60 to stay unbeaten at 6-0.

Lauren Gaughran doubled in the 200 Free and 500 Free and Allie DeBiase in the Individual Medley and 100 Breaststroke for Newfane which also had Meghan Mietlicki win the 100 Free and Lauren Seymour the 100 Backstroke.

Emma Gardner was a double winner in the 50 Free and 100 Butterfly for Medina which slips to 1-5.

Roy-Hart sweeps Albion

The defending champion Roy-Hart boys squad downed visiting Albion 121-48 to stay perfect at 6-0.

Mason Sparks was a double winner in the 200 Free and 500 Free, Tanner Rees in the Individual Medley and 100 Butterfly and Nathan Mikoll in the 50 Free and 100 Free to lead the way for the Channel Cats which also had Elliott Spitzer win the 100 Backstroke and Jarret Thompson the 100 Breaststroke.

The loss drops Albion to 3-3.

The Roy-Hart girls likewise downed Albion 109-54 to regain the .500 mark at 3-3.

Alex Hill doubled in the 200 Free and 100 Butterfly and Kayla Hagan in the 500 Free and 100 Backstroke for Roy-Hart which also had Alex Fox take the Individual Medley and Holly DiMayo the 100 Breaststroke.

Elizabeth Furmanski was a double winner in the 50 Free and 100 Free for Albion.
